School may be out for the summer, but Mason
Mingus is getting an education on the short tracks
of the Midwest.  The 16-year-old driver from
Brentwood, Tennessee is on a run of tracks in the
CRA Super Series he has not seen before.  The
education continued on Sunday, July 3rd at
Angola Motor Speedway (IN), as Mingus
performed well with his Call Before You Dig/Team
Construction #811 for an eighth-place finish.

"It was a real racy race track so we were able to
make up for our lack of speed in time trials to go
to the front,” said Mingus.  “We had a really good racecar at the end of the race.  We lost a few spot s at the end of the race, but still we posted a good run.”

Mingus didn't end up as the top rookie for this event, but he only finished three spots behind Derrick Griffin who has not only raced at Angola in the past, but has also won there.  The finish moves Mingus up to sixth in points as he is knocking on the door to the top five.

Up next for the CRA Super Series is the series first visit to M-40 Speedway in Jones, Michigan.  The high-banked track should be quite a challenge for all on the circuit, according to Mingus.

"We went up to M-40 Speedway on Saturday night to get some laps in," said Mingus.  "Just that little bit more will help so we don't have to go in and work on the car and get it figured out in two short sessions.  It's very slick and it has more banking then Angola and it's going to be a good challenge for us all."

Action gets underway at M-40 with practice on Saturday, July 9th and Qualifying and racing on Sunday, July 10th.
