Tennessee Kentucky 811 Signs with Mason Mingus for 2011
Teen Has High Hopes for CRA Super Series Opener at Anderson This Weekend
Mason Mingus and his Tennessee Super Late Model team are ready to get rolling with the CRA Super Series 125-lap event at Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana this weekend after several rains have washed away two attempts as a season opener in recent weeks. But that’s not all the Brentwood, Tennessee driver is anxiously anticipating. He is also ready to hit the track with a new number and new sponsor as he will be presenting a new paint scheme this year with sponsorship from Tennessee Kentucky 811.
Mingus found success at the central Indiana track last season. He hopes that continues this year as they give it another shot in their new #811.
“We feel like we’re going to do pretty well,” said Mingus. “We went up and practiced two weeks ago when it (the race) was originally scheduled and we ran pretty well. We just had a few little minor things to do and we think we’ll make a good run. We ran pretty well there last year in the Redbud 300 up until the end when we had a flat tire, so hopefully we can be quick there again without any bad luck this time.”
With a new season comes a new color this year as Mingus announced he will proudly display the logos and number of the Tennessee Kentucky 811 service as his primary sponsor in 2011. Mingus has a message to spread this season as he raises awareness to the slogan “call before you dig.”
“Tennessee Kentucky 811 got on board with us this year and we decided to change our number to 811,” explained Mingus. “Basically 811 is a number you call before you want to dig, for underground prevention. They locate utility lines so you don’t hit anything digging in your backyard or anywhere else. They’re going to be on the car for a while and we’re really excited about them helping us out throughout the whole season.”
Mingus has personal ties to both Tennessee and Kentucky as he and his family hail from Brentwood, Tennessee and his car owner, Kevin Gardner, is from Louisville, Kentucky.
Mingus and his Tennessee Kentucky 811 Super Late Model will take on the CRA Super Series in the 125-lap main event this Saturday, May 7th at Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana.
The Tennessee Kentucky One-Call System, Inc. is a non-profit corporation established in 1983, whose mission is to act as an advance notification service to operators of underground facilities anywhere within the region. Tennessee Kentucky One-Call is governed by a Board of Directors and an Operating Committee. They are the only such service in Tennessee and Kentucky and are recognized as the "official" one-call service for the region.
